Monthly Family Newsletter: December 2024

Hello all,

It seems that just yesterday we were welcoming everyone back to school, but it is already time to wish everyone Happy Holidays as we wrap up our first semester of classes.

Our school is a very busy place and so much happened since my last letter.

We hosted yet another successful MUN conference where our students debated the topic of Latin America/Caribbean and Drug Trafficking. A special thank you to our sister school, EF Academy Oxford, who traveled all the way from the UK to take part in this event. I always say, while watching our students practice diplomacy, that if the world could only adopt the same practice of diplomacy and negotiations, we would not have wars! But I remain hopeful that our young ones will change this world for the better.

Our annual art show was nothing short of an amazing display of talent from our young artists, musicians, and actors.

Speaking of musicians of a different style, our annual Academy Rocks concert showcased some real talent in Rock-n-Roll, songwriting, and stage performance.

During the last week of November here in the US we celebrated Thanksgiving Holiday. Our school community came together for a traditional Thanksgiving meal skillfully prepared by our new food service company Aramark. This was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the concept of gratitude and the importance of it. I would like to share a couple of articles on the topic that I have shared with our staff here:

Let’s be grateful for what we have and various things we could be grateful for and various people we could be grateful to. It is important to practice gratitude not only during this holiday time but always.

We all worked very hard this semester, and all are ready for a break. As we head into the holiday season, I wish you some festive time together with family and friends. Cherish these moments, relax, reflect, and do what you like doing during this time. As 2024 winds down, it has been a whirlwind no matter where you live--full of changes political, logistical, expected, and unexpected, all accounts for the experiences we call life. Let’s welcome 2025 with hope for a better life for all of us everywhere and for a brighter future for our young ones.

Happy Holidays from the bottom of my heart! I am already looking forward to welcoming everyone back well-rested and ready for another semester of learning adventures.

Be well,

Be happy

Enjoy the Season,

See you in 2025
